On November 29,2023 Global Startup Award(GSA)Award Ceremony Event and Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone International Intellectual Property Exchange Conference opened in Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone Jingrong Hui.The event was held in an online+offline format,where representatives of 11 award-winning enterprises from the UK,Denmark,Spain,Hungary,Sweden and other countries,founders of the Global Startup Awards(GSA),industry experts,and representatives of intellectual property service organizations,investment and financing institutions,and key enterprises of Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone and other more than 300 people gathered in Chengdu to seek IP exchanges and cooperation.

It is reported that Global Startup Awards(hereinafter referred to as"GSA")is the world's largest independent entrepreneurial ecosystem competition,since its establishment in 2012,it has held 16 regional events and 2 global events around the world,awarding more than 1,500 prizes and facilitating more than 100 business partnerships.In 2023,startups from 124 countries around the world participated in the competition,with over 28000 projects nominated and receiving over 70000 public votes.The GSA Award Ceremony event landed in Chengdu for the first time,aiming to build a dialog bridge between Chengdu enterprises and overseas high-quality enterprises,strengthen the international exchange of intellectual property rights,and innovatively promote the high-quality development of international economic and trade cooperation.

At the day's event,Kim Balle,Founder of the GSA Organizing Committee,introduced the development history of the Global Startup Awards and expressed the vision of facilitating high-quality domestic and international projects to reach cooperation and strengthening international exchanges on intellectual property.He said the awards provide a platform for startups to gain visibility and potential investors,connect with partners and expand their business.

During the award ceremony,representatives of the GSA Organizing Committee and guests presented awards to 11 award-winning enterprises from Sweden,the UK and other countries.In order to promote communication between domestic and foreign enterprises and build a dialogue platform between innovative entities and investment and financing institutions,9 GSA award-winning enterprises and Chengdu Shengshi Junlian Biotechnology Co.,Ltd.also conducted project road shows.

Johan Bender Koch,president of Pluto Technologies,a Danish software development company and GSA award winner,said in the interview after the conference,"I am very happy to come to the land of abundance,which is rich in history and prosperous in urban construction,and I feel the strong atmosphere of science and technology innovation in the city,and I am very much looking forward to further exchanging and cooperating with Chinese enterprises".

On the day of the event,Hong Yongqing,Director of Shanghai Office of South-South Cooperation Promotion Association of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,and Xiao Xiangnan,Senior Vice President of Global Investment Banking Management Committee of CITIC Securities,respectively shared their topics on cross-border technology transactions and building a whole-chain intellectual property system,and key points of concern about intellectual property rights in the process of reviewing and approving A-share listings.Invited experts and entrepreneurs at home and abroad also held roundtable discussions on topics such as international trends in technology transfer industrialization,sharing of international patent operation cases,and the confusion of technology transfer between enterprises and universities,to jointly explore intellectual property innovation,development,and protection.

Intellectual property is a catalyst for innovation and a gas pedal for economic development.At the event,Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone also released the"Knowledge,Production and Financing"intellectual property financial service program.This plan aims to build a cluster of intellectual property characteristic buildings and a data base for intellectual property finance,aggregating financial institutions such as banks,guarantees,science and technology loans,equity investments,securities,insurance,as well as operational institutions such as intellectual property,finance and taxation,and law.It aims to build a full lifecycle intellectual property finance service ecosystem,providing three services:intellectual property financing,intellectual property management,and intellectual property transformation for technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises.

"The release of the IPR financial service plan is an important initiative of Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone to implement the Special Action Plan for Patent Transformation and Utilization(2023-2025),marking that the IPR financial service will continue to break down information barriers,share customer resources,realize data synergy and interoperability,and give full play to its strengths in order to promote diversified intellectual property financial support."The relevant person in charge of Chengdu Hi-tech Zone Market Supervision Bureau said.

It is reported that,as the first batch of national high-tech zones and the first national independent innovation demonstration zone in the west,Chengdu Hi-tech Zone insists on taking intellectual property rights as an important hand to promote scientific and technological innovation,and makes every effort to promote the quality and efficiency of intellectual property rights creation,application,protection,management and service,and in recent years,it has been approved as the national intellectual property rights construction demonstration zone and national intellectual property rights service export base,and a number of other state-level honors.Up to now,Chengdu Hi-tech Zone has 38,209 effective invention patents and 4,509 PCT patent applications.
